The Importance of Loving Prophet Muhammad (pbuh):

Love of the Prophet (s) is a requirement on every believer. This is mentioned in Qur’an:

“Say, [O Muhammad], "If you should love Allah, then follow me, [so] Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful."” (Ali `Imran, 31).

"There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent pattern for anyone whose hope is in Allah and the Last Day and [who] remembers Allah often." (Al-Ahzab, 21)


Love of the Prophet (ﷺ) is what differentiates the believers in the perfection of their Iman. In an authentic hadith related in Bukhari and Muslim, the Prophet (ﷺ) said:

“None of you believes until he loves me more than he loves his children, his parents, and all of mankind.”
